Important elections are headed our way

Yes, important elections are coming close — less than two months away. 

One of the most important to me is the election for state senator of District 1. We have Scott Herndon, who won the primary election. It was a surprise. If you look back at the results you will discover a low voter turnout. That is what got him in. If, and that's a big if, our voters would have turned out en masse he would have been defeated. People become complacent. "Oh Jim will win. Herndon doesn't have a chance." Well you stayed home and "whoa" he pulled it off. "Now what?"

We have Steve Johnson, who has stepped in to challenge him. Johnson is not a newcomer. He almost upset Herndon the year that Herndon won the November election. He had 9,000 write in votes. This year he is on the ballot. He is a lifelong North Idaho resident. He was born on the family farm in Cocolalla where he still lives. He's a farmer, a builder, a small business owner, and a semi-retired teacher. He will help to improve the daily lives of Idaho families. Unfortunately I have almost reached the 250-word count for letters and will  have to continue in other letters.

The most important thing is to get out and vote. You have multiple options. Use them.
