Sentinel boys, Big Sky girls win Butte golf titles

FAIRMONT HOT SPRINGS — Missoula Sentinel and Missoula Big Sky both took the slimmest of victories at the Butte Invitational golf tournament that concluded Friday.

Sentinel’s boys held off Helena Capital by one stroke, 803-804; the Big Sky girls won with 732 strokes, one better than Sentinel. 

Flathead’s girls finished a tie for third place, and three Bravettes finished in the top 15, led by Becky Schmidt in sixth with a two-day total of 182.

Glacier’s Maggie Mitton was fourth at 178 and the Wolfpack was sixth out of eight girls teams.

Glacier’s boys were fourth; the Wolfpack’s leader was Torren Murray, who shot 73 Friday for a two-day total of 150. 

Flathead was eighth out 10 boys teams. Easton Coopman shot a 78 Friday to finish with a team-best total of 160. He finished 18th overall.
