Chris W. Anderson

Chris W. Anderson, 77, of Quincy, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, at the Quincy Valley Cemetery.

Chris was born on April 20, 1949, in Alamosa, Colorado to Ray and Della (Martin) Anderson. The family moved to Quincy when Chris was 3 years old and has lived here ever since. Chris graduated from Quincy High School in 1967 and, two years later, started his service in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He completed basic training in 1969 and was stationed in Japan as a military police officer. He received his honorable discharge in February of 1971.

Chris was introduced to Mary Smith in March of 1971. They met on a Wednesday, were engaged by Sunday and later married on June 4, 1971. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Following their marriage, they continued to make their home in Quincy and Chris started working for the city in the fall of 1971 in the utility department. He spent his entire career working for the city before his retirement in 2007.

Chris loved to hunt and fish, spend time with his family and, of course, spend hours tinkering on various projects in his shop. He had a great sense of humor and could visit with anyone about anything.

Chris is survived by his wife, Mary Anderson, at their home in Quincy along with a very large extended family of in-laws, out-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
