The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is conducting core-sampling operations on U.S. Highway 93 and Montana Highway 35 this week, beginning Sept. 22 in the vicinity of Arlee and Ravalli.

Core sampling continues Wednesday from south of the intersection of Caffrey Road and Ford Road to south of the Hwy. 35 intersection and winds up Thursday and Friday with work on Hwy. 93 from its intersection with Hwy. 35 to north of the Meadow Road intersection, mile marker 59.2 to 67.4.

According to a press release from MDT, these operations test the strength of the roadway and help the department plan future repairs.

All work takes place from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Drivers should expect lane closures, flaggers, reduced speed limits and slight delays.

Drivers are encouraged to watch for workers and equipment and follow all posted signs. The public is encouraged to contact MDT Public Involvement by calling 406-444-6274 or emailing [email protected] with questions or comments.
