Citizens for a Better Flathead invites community members and local conservation supporters to the Great Place Raffle Party on Friday, Sept. 25.
The evening’s theme, “Bedrock democracy: Defending Our waters, our community, and our Constitutional rights,” addresses growing frustration among local residents whose public comments on community issues are often met with a mere “thank you” without meaningful action. This year’s presentation aims to inspire and empower citizens to continue advocating for the place they call home.
Opening remarks will be delivered by Roger Sullivan, a founding board member of Citizens for a Better Flathead and seasoned trial attorney who has spent over four decades championing environmental justice across the state. Sullivan recently served as a lead counsel in the landmark youth climate lawsuit Held v. State of Montana.
Keynote speaker Anne Hedges, executive director of the Montana Environmental Information Center (MEIC), brings more than thirty years of dedicated public interest advocacy to the event stage. Hedges’ long-standing collaboration with Citizens for a Better Flathead dates back to the organization’s very first 1995 lawsuit challenging local open-meeting violations.
As Citizens for a Better Flathead’s primary annual fundraiser, proceeds from dinner and raffle tickets directly support local watershed protection, land-use planning, and public participation initiatives across the Flathead Valley.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. and speakers at 7 p.m. at Flathead Valley Community College, Arts & Technology Building, 777 Grandview Drive, Kalispell, MT.
Tickets for dinner and the raffle can be purchased directly through the Citizens for a Better Flathead website at www.flatheadcitizens.org.
