Lady Cats 'play their hearts out' in five-set battle
JOHN HAMILTON | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 2 weeks, 6 days AGO
Sometimes no one’s the worse for losing.
Sometimes both teams walk away better, regardless of the final outcome.
Thursday, Sept. 17 in Hot Springs was one of those times for the Superior Lady Cats, who fell 19-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 17-15 to the Savage Heat in Hot Springs that fateful day.
After all, win or lose, you have won when you earn the experience and became better at what you do in the process, and Superior coach Emily Verbanac felt just that way about her team after the match with Hot Springs.
“It was definitely not a loss to hang our heads on that’s for sure,” she said. “The Cats rallied hard, played their hearts out and left it all out on the court!”
Josie Crabb enjoyed a fine all around match in leading Superior in Hot Springs, posting nine kills, four aces, 26 digs and a block, and Ava White was nearly as effective flooring a team-high 13 kills and six service aces, in addition to digging up 17 Hot Springs kill attempts.
Lyla Beaudoin directed the Superior offense with 33 set assists besides finding time to hit three kills and come up with 14 digs, Maya Cleveland added five kills, Lottie DiGiando three aces and 12 digs and Nichole Shope five kills, two blocks and 10 digs.
The Bobcats play Valley Christian in Missoula Tuesday, host St. Regis Thursday and visit Victor Saturday.
