Law roundup: Woman deems flyer arrangement unseemly

A man called the Kalispell Police Department for help in retrieving flyers for a sprinkler service he had posted on the neighborhood mailbox and light poles. He said that a woman allegedly removed them and refused to return the ads. Officers spoke with the woman, who claimed that, “per her HOA,” posting signs in the neighborhood was against the rules. 

She purportedly took one look at the “clutter,” deemed it “trashy” and made the executive decision to throw them away.  Officers reviewed video footage of her removing two flyers and told the man she took them down because she thought they looked unprofessional and violated homeowners association's rules. Upset when told the situation appeared to be a dispute between neighbors as opposed to criminal theft, the man reportedly implied that law enforcement “didn’t know the law” and that new officers were inexperienced. 

A man with vomit running down his shirt was spotted in the liquor aisle chugging Buzz Balls he didn’t pay for, leaving them around the store. After reporting the shoplifting, security called officers a second time to request an ambulance for the highly intoxicated man who was getting into a vehicle.  

Someone requested a call from a supervisor at the Police Department regarding a ticket. An officer counseled the individual who didn’t like the answers they received. 

A woman was ticketed for trespassing and moved along when an employee found her sleeping outside a building.  

Two men in a Jeep were reportedly yelling at another guy and a passerby called the police saying at least one of them had a weapon, possibly a gun, but couldn’t articulate why they thought so. Officers checked the area and didn’t see anything concerning. 

Two men were allegedly working on a blue Ford SUV in the parking lot that looked to have been newly damaged. An employee at the location called the police, wondering if there had been any recent hit-and-runs because their story didn’t add up after talking to them.
