McKenzie hat trick leads Blue Hawks

Led by a hat trick of goals from Koa McKenzie and a hat trick of assists from Caleb Hutchings, the Thompson Falls-Plains boys soccer team scored a 9-0 win over the Browning Indians in Browning Friday.
In soccer and hockey, the scoring of three goals is considered a hat trick, and it’s a trick any Hawk soccer player would be glad to turn. Two goals scored is called a brace, another goal of soccer players everywhere.
Noah Scharfe filled the criteria for a brace with two goals in Browning, and Liam Pallister, Nathaniel Palacios, Clinton Weedeman and Kalen Chenoweth added a goal apiece.
In addition to Hutchings’ three assists, Noah Scharfe added two, and Pallister, Weedeman, Chenoweth and Nathaniel Palacios one each.
In other action last week, the Hawks returned to Thompson Falls and lost 5-0 to visiting Bigfork at Previs Field Saturday.
“We did play them tough, feel like we can beat them and will look forward to playing them again,” coach Scharfe said. “We had just had the game in Browning the day before, so I think a lot of the boys were a little tired from two games in a row, especially after a long drive and getting back home late.”
The Hawks will entertain the Libby Loggers at Previs Field this Friday with the boy/girl doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
