Michael John Thompson, 80, resident of Sandpoint since 1957, went into the presence of his Savior on Saturday, Sept 19, 2026.
He was born April 18, 1946, in Kalispell, Mont., to James L. and Helen M. Thompson.
Mike attended Sandpoint High School, U.S. Air Force Academy and Eastern Washington University.
He worked for The Alpine Shop, Sandpoint Realty, Les Schwab Tire Company and as a custom home builder.
Mike is survived by his wife, Corinne (Corky) Thompson; brothers, Jim Thompson and Chris Thompson (Judy); sisters, Mary Brown (Mike), Beth Bruce, Sigrid Brannan (Bob) and Kirsten Thompson (Tom Collins); numerous nieces and nephews; a growing number of grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and the Uncle Dunkle Gang.
Mike was a skier, a sailor, a hunter, a horseman, a builder, a reader, a devoted husband and man of faith.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Southside Community Church, 251 Cocolalla Loop Road, Cocolalla, Idaho.
