Noxon Lady Red Devil volleyball fans have two opportunities to catch coach Toni Richter’s Devil netters in action at home this week. Richter and the Devils were set to host Class B Troy Tuesday and will entertain the Two Eagle River Eagles in a District 14C conference match Saturday.
Richter said that the very young Devils played well in another 14C match with the Vikings in Charlo Saturday, but lost to the hometown Lady Vikings, the defending district champions, 25-12, 25-8, 25-17.
“These young athletes played their best match so far this season,” she said. “We are so proud of them. I hope they can keep that it up.”
Senior co-captain Sandy Bonney led the Lady Devils in Charlo, racking up three kills, two blocks, two service aces and nine digs, Kaylie Mercer was good for two kills and an ace, Nevaeh Christensen five digs, and Sydnie Eichert an assist and a dig.
Christensen is a sophomore and Eichert a freshman and both represent the youthful nature of a very full Noxon roster of volleyball players this season.
The Devils’ important stretch of conference matches continues in Hot Springs next week against the Savage Heat on Sept. 28.
