BOYS
Grangeville 3, Priest River 1
PRIEST RIVER — A penalty shot goal from Priest River's leading goal scorer Daryan Haidari wasn't enough to lift the Spartans over the Grangeville Bulldogs in an Intermountain League contest on Friday.
The senior, Haidari, took three shots on goal while Gunnar Pettit added four shots, but they weren't able to rally enough offense to overcome the three-goal outburst from the Bulldogs. Between the posts, junior goalkeeper Ryker Pettit totaled 18 saves against Grangeville.
With the loss, Priest River fell to 2-5 on the season and in league play. The Spartans will play their final home game of the season against Bonners Ferry on Sept. 26 at 2 p.m.
The Spartans' game against the Badgers will be senior night, a celebration of the seniors on the team. That game will be played at the Priest River junior high field on Saturday.
GIRLS
Grangeville 6, Priest River 2
PRIEST RIVER — A four-goal first half lifted the Grangeville Bulldogs over the Priest River Spartans in an Intermountain League game on Friday.
Both of the Spartans' goals came in the second half but were matched by two more goals by the Bulldogs. With the loss, Priest River fell to 3-6-1 on the season and in league play.
Priest River faced off against Kellogg on Tuesday afternoon, but a score was not made available prior to the Bee's print deadline. A recap of that game will appear in the Bee's Thursday print edition and online today.
