Law roundup: Feud between neighbors escalates to nail polish graffiti

A feud between neighbors had necessitated the involvement of the Kalispell Police Department after calls for welfare checks and some light vandalism. The male half of the grudge match accused his neighbor of harassing him, phoning in the aforementioned welfare check and writing on his door with nail polish. He went to his property manager first, but they directed him to the courthouse or law enforcement. After a bit of back-and-forth, he admitted he lacked proof of who was behind the nail polish graffiti, but suspected it was his neighbor across the hall. Officers suggested he install an exterior camera.  

Officers arranged for the towing of an abandoned vehicle that was blocking a road.  

Someone called with questions about the crisis assistance team.  

A woman phoned the police with questions about getting items out of a storage unit when the person the unit belonged to was in jail. Officers recommended they set up a civil standby when the individual was released from custody.  

Officers warned a motorist for driving with expired registration. 

A woman who uses a wheelchair to get around asked the police to intervene after a new neighbor started parking in a manner that blocked her access to her mailbox. She said she had been unable to get hold of them to see if the situation could be addressed. Officers cruised the neighborhood, but noted no parking violations.  

Thieves made off with a bicycle. 

Meanwhile, the owner of a bar phoned the authorities with surveillance footage of someone stealing an employee's bike. The theft occurred in the middle of the afternoon the day prior. They agreed to pass the footage on to investigators.  

A passerby reported seeing a possible drunk driver, an older woman behind the wheel of a silver Cadillac sedan. The woman's blinker was left flashing as she struggled to maintain her lane and she bumped into the curb repeatedly. The passerby provided license plate information, but it returned on a motorhome, and officers were unable to locate the Cadillac near where it was last seen at the intersection of North Main Street and Sunset Boulevard.
