Morgan Delaney wins Mountain West Classic

Polson senior Morgan Delaney continues to crush it in 2026, winning the prestigious Mountain West Classic at the University of Montana Golf Course on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Delaney finished the 5,000-meter course first in 17 minutes, 50.3 seconds; Bozeman sophomore Phoebe Maixner was a close second, in 17:52.1, and Missoula Hellgate’s Reed Stromberg was third at 17:58.0.
The Lady Pirates were the top-finishing Class A team and placed eighth overall. Delaney was the individual champion, Quinn Delaney 6th, Sara Dumouchel 45th, Taryn Cochran 102nd, Koko Scott 152nd and Anaya Shizuku 339th.
According to coach Jason Delaney, this may be the highest finish ever made by a Polson team at Mountain West.
The boys placed 42nd as a team, with Jackson Bontadelli 17th, Trenton Couture 256th, Wyatt Boogerd 334th, Christopher Sopke 372nd, Thomas Kabacinski 382nd, Galen Berg 439th and Brandtly Caye 444th.
Fifty-five full girls teams competed, and 86 schools were represented. Helena won the girls team title at 122 points, followed by Bozeman at 146 and Gallatin at 153.
