Michael Miley, drummer for the rock band Rival Sons, will give a talk about “spiritual grit” on Sept. 27 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
A founding member of the two-time Grammy-nominated Long Beach, California, band, Miley began drumming at 4 years old and has shared the stage with Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC, KISS, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, the Rolling Stones and Alice Cooper.
Amid the rock ‘n’ roll success, Miley became a Christian in 2009 and joined the Catholic Church in 2014.
“Today, he combines his musical career with a deep commitment to faith, inspiring others to discover their own ‘spiritual grit’ — the tenacity, persistence and resilience needed to glorify the Lord in every pursuit,’” a press release stated.
Drawing from more than 30 years as a professional drummer, Miley will share how persistence and resilience fueled his career and how “surrendering to Christ” amplified it. The free talk will explore practical ways to cultivate spiritual grit in daily life by turning challenges into opportunities “to grow closer to God and live out one’s vocation with unwavering tenacity.”
The free talk starts at 7 p.m. in Strom Hall Parish Center, 230 Baker Ave., Whitefish.
