The Wolfpack are back at home and are ready to give any challengers all they can handle.

Friday’s foe for Glacier is the Missoula Hellgate Knights, who enter the game 0-4, but head coach Grady Bennett doesn’t care about that. He cares about his players getting better on the field each day. 

“We focus on us every week, the journey is about us being the best we can be,” Bennett said. “These guys only get nine games, who cares who they are playing.” 

The 3-1 Wolfpack hit the midway point of the regular season this week and have currently allowed just six points defensively, all coming in the opening game against Billings West. 

Bennett says it’s a challenge to reach the levels of last season’s defense, but this group wants to match and surpass them. 

“Alignment, assignment and finish on defense. Our guys want to be in the high 90 percent on aligning and finishing the plays,” Bennett said. 

Over the last three games, Glacier has outscored opponents 110-0, but Hellgate brings in a high-powered offense led by quarterback Cannon Clark. 

Clark has seven touchdowns over the past two weeks, six coming through the air and one on the ground in last week’s 38-21 loss to Missoula Sentinel. 

The Wolfpack are rolling offensively as well, and Bennett noted that his squad has put together their best practices of the season this week. 

“This week I have really seen growth and its fun to see the guys practice intentionally,” Bennett said. “Some things really started to click on offense and the execution was at a level we haven’t seen this season.” 

Cash Keim was 7 of 13 last week through the air with two touchdowns. Trey Ramey and Eli Imperato found scores on the ground in the 31-0 win over Helena Capital. 

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. for the Wolfpack’s Homecoming game against the Knights. 

Braves look to rebound  

Mac Roche knows one got away from the Braves last week. 

Helena rallied for a late 31-30 victory over Flathead, but the Braves need to shake off the bad feeling and prepare for another tough test in Missoula Big Sky. 

“There are a lot of calls I would like to bring back,” Roche said of last week. “The kids have responded well this week, they know we didn’t earn a win.”   

The Eagles enter at 4-0 with a pair of tight wins to open Western AA play: 24-21 over Helena Capital and 22-21 against Butte. Flathead is 3-1 following the loss. 

Eli Kasberg guides the Eagles as a dual threat quarterback; he has six touchdowns through the air and eight on the ground. His 103 rushing yards per game are sixth in AA. 

“They match up a lot differently than Helena with personnel and what they like to do, they like to run a spread out Wing-T,” Roche said. 

The Braves counter offensively with the top rusher in the state among all classes in Leum Saisbury. The junior is averaging 143 yards per game and has six touchdowns. 

Roche says they will need to get Saisbury rolling early. 

“Leum is a tremendous back,” Roche said. “We need to make sure we have good communication up front. 

“We struggled in the run game last Friday, that forced us into some bad play calls.” 

The Eagles and Braves are slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff at MCPS Stadium in Missoula.
