SANDPOINT — Bonner County commissioners are not skipping a beat as they welcome a steady business meeting agenda next week after being gone this past Tuesday.  

The board is expected to hear from 13 different county departments throughout the meeting, including an agenda item from the county commissioners. Commissioners are no strangers to hefty agendas, with past meetings lasting upwards of three hours. However, the longer Sept. 29 agenda can be attributed to the cancelled meeting last Tuesday while elected officials attended a statewide conference. 

Most notable on the agenda are items from the district court, the fair and the board of county commissioners.  

Representatives from the district court are expected to request the use of a county building to give court assistance officers space to conduct appointments with Bonner County residents. A memorandum submitted to the board indicates the space would be primarily used on Mondays and Fridays. The document allows commissioners to determine which county building the court could use, either the County Admin building on Highway 2 or the building off S. Division Avenue.  

The request was initially filed in mid-April, but a decision has been delayed to allow time for the building leaseholder to respond to the request. According to county commissioners, their current lease prevents them from subletting or allowing other parties to utilize the building. 

Representatives from the fairgrounds are expected to bring forth a request to fund its initial phase of the Fairground Emergency Power Project. The project stems from an Aug. 8 incident when the fairgrounds lost power before the second night of the 2026 Sandpoint Rodeo. Although temporary resources were pulled to fix the problem, the fair board recognized a need to have a permanent alternative if power is lost again.  

In other business news, county commissioners are slated to discuss and motion to declare an isolated piece of Bonner County property as an odd lot. Upon doing so, officials will seek to determine the interest of neighboring properties in purchasing the property.  

Commissioners are scheduled to consider the requests and other county business during their Sept. 29 meeting.
