Calgary Flames' draft pick Harrington returns to Chiefs
After attending the Calgary Flames training camp and playing in a preseason NHL game against the Seattle Kraken, Chase Harrington has been reassigned to the Spokane Chiefs.
The 6-foot-1 center was selected in the second round by the Flames in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft (36th overall).
Harrington put up a career 57 points and clocked 105 penalty minutes in the 2025-26 season with the Chiefs.
He is expected to be available for Spokane's home opener, tonight against the Tri-City Americans at 6 p.m. at Numerica Veterans Memorial Arena.
Gonzaga men's basketball adds French guard Nathan De Sousa
SPOKANE — Gonzaga men’s basketball head coach Mark Few announced the signing of Nathan De Sousa, an experienced guard from France, for the 2026-27 season.
De Sousa, a 6-2 guard, brings international experience after spending the past five seasons with Cholet Basket in France’s LNB Elite league.
During the 2025-26 season with Cholet, De Sousa averaged a career-high 10.9 points, 4.9 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game while appearing in 36 LNB Elite contests. He shot 43.4 percent from the field, 36.1 percent from three-point range and 76.9 percent from the free-throw line.
De Sousa, 23, also appeared in nine Basketball Champions League games during the 2025-26 season, averaging 8.3 points, 4.7 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game.
A product of France’s youth basketball system, De Sousa has helped France capture gold at the 2023 FIBA U20 EuroBasket, averaging 7.1 points, 2.0 assists and 1.0 rebounds per game. He also played for France at the 2019 FIBA U16 EuroBasket, helping the team earn a silver medal.
