Kathryn Ann Wiley

Kathryn Ann Wiley, 73, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, at MountainView Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

She was born Sept. 9, 1953, to Virgil Rudolph Hanford and Ellen Louise Southwick Hanford. In 1973 she married Harold Wiley in Wenatchee, Washington. They were happily married for 53 years until his passing on Dec. 2, 2025. Kathryn grew up in Washington. She spent her youth in Entiat and then moved to Soap Lake with her husband. Later she made her home in Moapa Valley, Nevada, where she enjoyed the warmer climate and the community there.

Throughout her working life, Kathryn worked as an accountant and an office manager. She was very dedicated to her work and took pride in being dependable and helping those around her. Her career allowed her to make many long-lasting friendships. Outside of work, she enjoyed fishing and traveling. She loved spending time outdoors and visiting new places. She enjoyed taking trips, seeing new things, and making memories along the way. Fishing gave her a chance to relax and be outside. She enjoyed the time she was able to spend with family and friends. Kathryn also enjoyed painting and ceramics, especially when she could share those interests with her mother, Ellen. Ellen owned a ceramic shop and Kathryn loved helping her and spending time creating with her. Kathryn also cherished her time on the family orchard where she lived for a short time.

Through her involvement with the Disabled American Veterans, Kathryn dedicated time to supporting veterans and their families. She was an active member of the DAV Disabled American Veterans and served as an auxiliary commander, an accomplishment that showed not only her loving nature but her willingness to serve and help others.

Survivors include her brother Randal Hanford of Wenatchee, Washington; Kathryn’s nieces and nephews Brooke (Jim) Hempel of Las Vegas, Nevada, Brian (Tracy) Hanford of Malott, Washington and Josh (Megan) Hanford of Republic, Washington; and Harold’s nieces and nephews Robert Wiley of Soap Lake, Washington, Kenneth (Linda) Wiley of Marysville, Washington and Julie (Darrel) Schmidt of Wenatchee, Washington.

A memorial service honoring the life of Kathryn will be held on Sept. 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Logandale West Stake Center, 3245 N.
