GEORGE — A 41-year-old British Columbia woman was arrested Sunday after authorities said she stole a pickup truck near the Gorge Amphitheatre and later hid inside a trailer while attempting to evade law enforcement.
According to a Moses Lake Police Dept. statement, deputies working at the Gorge received a report early Sunday morning of a woman stealing a pickup from a parking area. An off-duty Moses Lake officer working an overtime security shift at the venue located the stolen vehicle a short time later after it became high-centered.
Police said the officer saw the driver, identified as Sarah Poole, 41, of Surrey, British Columbia, exit the truck and run from the scene. Authorities said Poole fled toward a nearby residence and entered a trailer on the property.
Grant County Sheriff's Office deputies located Poole inside the trailer and ordered her to come out, according to the release. When she did not comply, Moses Lake Police Officer Brad Zook and K-9 Rex were called in. The K-9 entered the trailer and apprehended Poole.
Poole suffered minor injuries from the dog bite and was treated before being taken into custody, according to police.
According to the Grant County Jail roster, Poole was booked Sept. 27 by the Grant County Sheriff's Office on charges of theft of a motor vehicle, residential burglary, second-degree vehicle prowling, first-degree criminal trespass and resisting arrest.
As of Monday, no bail amount was listed on the jail roster.
The Moses Lake Police Department noted that off-duty officers from several agencies routinely work overtime shifts at Gorge Amphitheatre events to assist the Grant County Sheriff's Office. According to the department, those costs are reimbursed by Live Nation, which operates the venue.
