Cats sink Bigfork Vikings on the rainbow road

Starting the game under a rainbow that arched over the field, the Columbia Falls football team pounded Bigfork on the road Friday, 45-7.

It was a more entertaining game than the score would suggest. Bigfork had some talent and speed, but the Cats forced a batch of turnovers, including a pick six each by Jaxon Cadwell and Trip Ross to set up the rout.

All told the Wildcats forced four turnovers, Cadwell had another pick as well as his pick six.

Offensively Ross was a juggernaut, rushing for 188 yards on 10 carries. He also had a 23-yard field goal, kicked two extra points and ran for two, 2-point conversions.

Quarterback Banyan Johnston was 13 of 20 for 185 yards. Johnston also rushed for 53 yards as the Cats had more than 400 yards total offense.

Jory Hill led the receiving corps with two touchdown catches. He had 73 yards total.

“All phases of the game were very good,” coach Kelly Houle said. He was impressed with the defensive play and the offense line is opening up big holes for the Wildcats’ rushing attack.

“Everyone is contributing offensively,” Houle said. He noted that nine different players put offensive yards on the board.

The Cats face Ronan at home for homecoming.

The Chiefs have one win on the year — they beat Browning.
