What if your trips to the gas station could be less frequent, your snow blower quieter, and your home more comfortable—all while potentially saving you money? That’s the conversation we’re starting with Electrifying the Flathead, a monthly radio program on KGEZ.

We’ll cover a range of topics like energy-saving appliances, home electricity generation and backup power, electric cars, and solutions for renters. Our focus is simple: How can new technologies make our lives more convenient, comfortable and affordable?

We’ll also discuss what to consider before making a change so you get the most value for your money. What are some do-it-yourself solutions for a home that’s cold and drafty? What are some lower-cost ways to charge an electric car? Does your electrical panel need an upgrade?

Our October program will explore what’s happening with our valley’s electrical grid. The demand for electricity is growing. At the same time, upgrading inefficient appliances and heating systems can help reduce the amount of electricity needed.

Flathead Electric is investing in new technology to help meet increased demand. The new solar and battery storage project in Whitefish can store electricity during the daytime and provide power when demand and energy supplier prices are highest. This both increases supply and reduces costs.

Join us at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 9 on 96.5 KGEZ. Send your questions to [email protected] and we’ll try to answer them on the air.
