Nothing like a mid-season volleyball tournament to get those net juices flowing again.

Coach Sandra Kazmierczak and her Lady Hawks took a slight detour in regular season play Saturday, traveling to Manhattan for a one-day tournament.

“It was a great day of volleyball in Manhattan,” she said. "We got to see a bunch of different teams and play a lot of good volleyball. It was well worth the trip, we are glad to have had this chance to play in this tournament.”

Kazmierczak said that the Hawks ended up playing Ennis, Twin Bridges, Granite County and Fairfield in pool play in Manhattan and then fell to the host Tigers in a tight match in the next round and were eliminated. Allowing the Hawks to board the bus for the long ride home from the worthwhile event.

In other action last week, the Hawks hosted Arlee Sept. 22 and defeated the Scarlets 25-18, 25-11, 25-15.

Addy Deal continued her outstanding season by posting 18 kills, two stuff blocks, two service aces and five digs to lead the Hawks against Arlee.

Aubrey Baxter added five kills, two blocks, three aces and two digs in that match, Jasmin Risch had three kills, Audrey Fairbank two kills, two aces and 24 set assists and Marley Robisnon a kill and five digs.

The Hawks have two District 7B conference matches this week, at Troy Thursday and their annual homecoming match with Eureka in Thompson Falls Saturday.

“The girls are excited, we are playing well together, learning to play with each other,” she said, “and homecoming week is always fun. We are looking forward to it.”
