Joyce Albert, 91

Joyce Louise Albert, 91, of Sandpoint, Idaho passed away Sept. 17, 2026. 

She was born August 24, 1935, to Fred and Ruby Emmerson of Peshastin, Wash. After losing her mother, Ruby Emmerson in 1939 Joyce lived with her grandmother for a few years. She then moved to Desmit, Idaho, to live with her uncle and aunt, Raymond and Madeline Morrison. Joyce attended school in Potlatch, Idaho, where she graduated in 1955.

Joyce met Harold Albert and married on Feb. 12, 1956, at the First Presbyterian Church in Potlatch. Joyce and Harold had five children, 18 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. 

Joyce was a stay-at-home mom until moving to Sandpoint, Idaho, where she worked at the First Security Bank. Later she worked cleaning rooms at the local motels. She retired in 1992. After retirement Joyce and Harold bought a motorhome and traveled south for the winters. In the summer months they enjoyed camping and boating with their family and spending time with their many friends, children and grandchildren. 

Joyce loved to bake, cook and crochet. She (mamas), as most of the grandkids called her, would do anything for any of them. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was always around to help when she was needed. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Rest in peace mom, Mamas, grandma, great grandma and great-great-grandma.

Joyce is survived by sons, Allen (Brenda) Albert of Sandpoint, Roy (Sharon) Albert of Sandpoint, Ed Albert of Sagle and daughter Ruby (Nick) Kuprienko of Priest River; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her brother Warren (Bud and Anna) Emmerson. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Albert; daughter, Marcia Albert; parents, Fred and Ruby Emmerson; her folks Raymond and Madeline Morrison, Richard Morrison; sisters, Nona (Ole) Gere, Betty (Jerry) Watkins and Dolly (Art) Kerr; and daughter in law, Jona (Szprejda) Albert. 

Memorial services will be held on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, at 5 p.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home, 301 Olive Ave., Sandpoint, Idaho, with Pastor Catherine Lyle of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Joyce will be laid to rest with her husband Harold in the Freeze Cemetery.
