The 3rd annual SeptemBear hunt was held in the St. Regis Community on Saturday the 26th. Hosted by Kelly Morrison, along with several other volunteers who helped paint rocks, donate prize items, and help hide hundreds of bear rocks. Before the "hunters" got started Saturday morning, Morrison led the group in the traditional going on a bear hunt song. (Mineral Independent/Amy Quinlivan)
About a dozen bear hunters scoured the St. Regis Park for the brightly painted rocks hidden in tricky spots high and low. (Mineral Independent/Amy Quinlivan)
Each participant would bring their very heavy sacks of rocks back to the pavilion to unload and check for golden prize bears and ice cream bears. Then they would tally up their collection and add it to the running total of rocks already found. (Mineral Independent/Amy Quinlivan)
