Sports roundup: Campbell takes fourth at Western A; boys soccer notches 2 wins

Bigfork's Keegan Campbell carded an 85 to place fourth at the Western A girls golf tournament last week in Polson, earning a trip to the State A tournament.

Bigfork's Jocelyn Holton placed 10th with a round of 90. The team finished with a score of 430 to finish sixth in the west.

Whitefish won the tournament with 371, followed by Polson and Hamilton.

The Bigfork boys scored 409 to place 12th as a team. The Polson boys won the tournament on their home course with a 303, followed by Whitefish and Corvallis.

The top four teams advance to the State A tournament at Shelby’s Marias Valley Golf Club Oct. 2-3. In addition, the top eight individuals not qualified on a team will make the trip.  

Volleyball

Valkyries volleyball notched another pair of wins last week, improving to 9-3 overall.

On Tuesday, Bigfork edged Northwest A foe Columbia Falls, 3-2. Raegan Waller led the way with 20 kills in the match, with Lowell contributing 10.

Lillie Suffia served up a pair of the team's five aces on the night, and contributed two blocks for a well-rounded night. Somer Campos led with seven blocks.

Bigfork posted a 3-0 sweep on Browning on Thursday, Sept. 24. No stats were available.

Boys Soccer

Bigfork added another win to their overall record with a shutout at Browning. The match was never in question, with the Vikings tallying 10 goals in the route.

On Thursday, Bigfork upset Columbia Falls with an impressive 3-1 final score.

Ryker McAnally scored two goals, wrapped around one from teammate Jackson Rutherford, as the Vikings downed the Wildcats. 

The match saw Bigfork outshoot Columbia Falls 20-18, and Mason Davey turned away 13 Wildcat shots.

Girls Soccer

Bigfork's girls soccer team took a tough loss to Columbia Falls on Thursday.

Tatiana Raymond and June Johnston scored twice as Columbia Falls downed Bigfork. 

Raymond broke the deadlock with the lone goal of the first half in the 16th minute. 

The Wildkats added four second half goals to take control in a game where they outshot the Valkyries 30-10. 

Allie Vick made 25 saves for Bigfork to try and keep her team close. 

Medora Dahlstrom stopped all 10 shots she faced for Columbia Falls.
