Whitefish runners pick up personal bests in Thompson Falls

In Thompson Falls on Friday the Whitefish girls won second place and the boys won fifth out of 11 Class A, B and C schools, and several hit personal best times.
Freshman Porter Shehan led Whitefish with a runner-up finish, covering the 5K course in 16:17.1. Senior Ean Flynn placed 37th in 19:22.6, followed by junior Peter Schram in 42nd at 19:37.4. Junior Alexander Keim finished 44th in 19:39.8. Freshman Cooper Connelly rounded out the Bulldogs' scoring runners with a 48th-place finish in 19:46.1, posting a personal-best time. Senior Logan Covey placed 61st in 20:31.3 and also recorded a personal best, while freshman Wade Algeo was 70th in 21:08.4.
The girls were led by sophomore Kendall Dye, who finished fifth with 20:49.0. Senior Sophie Douglas took 14th in 22:11.8 and recorded a season-best time. Freshman K. Boyd was close behind in 15th at 22:12.0, setting a personal best. Senior Sierra Gibb finished 19th in 22:35.6, while freshman Elsie Snipes placed 20th in 22:35.9 and earned a personal-best mark. Freshman Ellie Ward added a 26th-place finish in 23:20.5, also a personal best, and sophomore Addie Nerdig was 33rd in 23:54.2.
The Bulldogs hosted their home invite at Whitefish Lake Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon. Teams will travel to the 7X7 Invite in Helena on Oct. 8.
