SANDPOINT — The public is invited to nominate individuals and businesses for the annual Chamber Choice Awards.
Residents will be real winners if act approved
Wilderness status is the highest protection given to land; only five percent of our national lands are designated wilderness. Congress is authorized to consider wilderness bills by The Wilderness Act of 1964, which defines wilderness as “an area where the earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man, where man himself is a visitor who does not remain.”

Virginia Pauline Woll, 92, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Brendan House in Kalispell. Virginia was born Aug. 26, 1916, in Polson, to Harry C. and Jessie G. (Chinnock) Rolston. As a child she grew up in the Ferndale area, graduating from Bigfork High School.

Robert W. "Bob" Peterson, 50, of Dayton, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at his home. Bob was born on Aug. 14, 1958, in Calgary, Alberta, a son of Deverl J. and Marjorie Peterson. He graduated from Richardson High School in Richardson, Texas, and attended Southwest Texas State at San Marcos, Texas; and also attended DeVry Technical College. He was a quality control engineer for DRS in Polson.
Sled Dog Days returns to valley
Thirteen teams have already signed up to run in the third annual Flathead Sled Dog Days races in the Whitefish Range north of Whitefish.

EPHRATA - While others were enjoying the Ephrata Chamber of Commerce's Car Show & Shine - Anything With Wheels event last Saturday, others chose another place by the courthouse to visit - the Nat Washington House. Visitors enjoyed a chance to learn about the house's history and connection to the nation's first president, George Washington. Interesting tidbits included what happened to George Washington's first coffin and how the Nat Washington house came to be.
