BOISE - Animal rights activists said they pumped fuel into an Idaho fur and fireworks retailer before setting the place ablaze early Monday, and federal agents said they were taking the claim seriously.

The end of our growing season came suddenly on Sept. 28. I don’t know about you, but that snowstorm was a surprise to me. Not a good one, either. If that wasn’t bad enough, we were “blessed” with several nights down around freezing.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to the Youth Court building in the courthouse loop Monday afternoon when a malfunctioning furnace filled the basement with smoke. Fire truck traffic temporarily blocked Main Street. No one was injured, and inmates of the juvenile detention facility were not evacuated.

Missing woman's body is found near Whitefish

The body of a 44-year-old woman who’d been reported missing was found outside on Highland Drive near Whitefish. Her body has been sent to the state crime lab in Missoula; Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating her death.
