It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Keith Kvittum. Ken passed away in his sleep Sept. 15, 2021, at a Cabinet Peaks Medical Center after fighting cancer for 41 months.

Boys behave badly while mother is away

According to the Kalispell Police Department, law enforcement officers had to contact the mother of two boys who were left home alone and ask her to return early after the brothers began engaging in dangerous behavior. The older brother was reportedly lighting a gum wrapper on fire, which upset and angered the younger brother. The younger boy then started chasing the older boy around the house with a kitchen knife and eventually threw it at the older boy’s foot. The mother arrived home to address the situation before any injuries incurred.

Horse stampede down Highway 93

According to a Flathead County Sheriff’s report, between 20 and 30 horses reportedly escaped and were seen running northbound on U.S. 93.

The annual meeting of the Fort Connah Restoration Society will be held at Ninepipes Lodge Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014. The meeting begins at 5:30 with a no host social hour and dinner. The meeting will begin at 7:00 and is open to all members of the Restoration Society and to all people wanting to join. The members of the Restoration Society are dedicated volunteers that have been in the process of restoring the original fort building and adding other structures that made up the total fort facilities.

Families received holiday cheer from local volunteers

There will be gifts under Christmas trees and food in the pantry, thanks to the efforts of volunteer groups in the area. On Dec. 3, Helping Hands raised over $5,800 with their annual auction. With some of the funds raised, the group bought toys, clothes, games and food for 11 families in need for the holidays.

'Fridays with Fido' highlights shelter dogs

Vicky Nelson, CAC development director, said they adopted six dogs through Fridays with Fido last year and one so far this year, with the first one in May. CAC will have dogs downtown during ArtWalk in July, September, and October.

Ross Allen Beagle, of Eureka, was an outdoorsman from an early age, spending summers camping in the mountains near Whitefish where he grew up.

Idaho gas prices drop below $3 a gallon

“For two weeks in a row, we’ve seen 12-cent drops in Idaho gas prices, and it’s a beautiful thing to fall to 15th in the country for the most expensive fuel in the process,” says AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde. “Now that we’ve made it this far, the question is how low will they go.”
