Pauline “Polly” Rose Schantz Bartell, 85, died December 15 at her home. She was born July 29, 1928 in Flasher, North Dakota, one of ten children of Gabriel and Rose Schantz. In 1946, the family moved to Seattle where she graduated from high school. She later came to visit an aunt and uncle in the Mission Valley, and never left.

Good ski season melts into good spring river flows

It was a record breaking year for Lookout Pass Ski area, according to President and CEO, Phil Edholm. They set an all-time skier visit record of approximately 68,700. The old record was 65,600 set during the 2013-2014 ski season and last winter they received 59,700 skiers. The ski area also received 422 inches of snow fall to-date.
