Group announces quilt exhibit

Missing woman is found safe

SANDPOINT — A Sandpoint woman who was reported missing Monday in southeastern Washington state was found after an intense daylong search.

Lela Bullard, 90

Lela Marie Dow Bullard passed away peacefully at the age of 90, Jan. 2, 2012, in Coeur d'Alene. She was born Sept. 24, 1921, in Knoxville, Tenn., where she attended Central High School, was President of the National Honor Society and winner of National French competition. Husband Charlie was a piano player and entertainer. They lived for a time in Jacksonville, Fla., where Lela won the women's amateur tennis championship. When they returned to Knoxville, she worked in music stores for 25 years and was the "go to" person for sheet music for musicians, teachers and music directors. She was a member of Kirk Hills Presbyterian Church.

Clerk calls deputies about customer

A man allegedly asked a clerk at a convenience store on U.S. 2 some strange questions. He wanted to know if she wanted to buy some drugs and if she could open the safe. The clerk called Flathead County Sheriff's deputies, who are using surveillance tapes in an attempt to identify the suspicious customer.

The Columbia Falls Police Department is increasing its crime-fighting arsenal with a new app to help residents connect with the department to find information, view alerts, and submit anonymous tips from their smartphone.

Louise LaBrie, 92 years young, has deep roots in Whitefish, where she has spent her entire life. Old-timers will remember her parents Roger and Pearl Smith and the feed store and service station that Roger owned and operated. Louise proudly proclaims that her mother was the first white child born in this area.
