Karen Joann Sanderson, 48

On Aug. 30, 1971, the musician, Sandy Sanderson, and hairdresser, Patti Knapton Sanderson, were thrilled to give birth to their first child, Karen Joann Sanderson in Whitefish. Karen’s childhood was idyllic and complete when brother Logan came along. Being a fifth generation Montanan from the Flathead Valley, Karen was surrounded by the love of a large extended family. Karen graduated from Flathead High School in 1989 and obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Communications degree from University of Montana in 1993. Karen’s family and many lifelong friends made while in high school, college, the Kappa Alpha Theta house and beyond are left to mourn the sudden loss of dear Karen. She passed on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, after a short bout of lung cancer.

Truck sale haunts man years later

A man on Helena Flats Road told Flathead County Sheriff’s Office he sold his truck years ago and the person never registered it in their name and he was recently contacted by someone stating he needed to pick the vehicle up or pay fines. The man allegedly picked up the truck and then three men showed up at his house wanting it. He thought the men had some sort of relation to the person he originally sold it to.

Event raises lots of 'doe'-nations

Northwest Autobody and a few partners recently gave the Bonner Community Food Bank a boost right when it needed it. Since 2016, Northwest Autobody has donated money to the food bank as part of its "Deervember" promotion. November is the busiest month of the year for animal versus automobile accidents and demand spikes at our local food bank with more people needing its services all the time.
