I have only lived in Boundary County about two decades, but that time has taught me by late July and early August North Idaho mountain ranges will be crawling with treasure hunters searching for purple gems. Armed with plastic ice cream buckets, grocery store sacks, coffee cans, or other containers, the prospectors comb hillsides from dawn to dusk. In coffee shops and cafes, they speak in hushed tones of finding “gold mines,” “mother lodes,” “bonanzas” or “purple gold!”

The city of Post Falls has been opening up new places like a new Burger King. There hasn’t been a Burger King in Post Falls for over six years. So after the new Burger King first opened people just started to flood in. There is also a new Walmart right by Cabela’s and another Walmart in Hayden Lake. There was a Dollar store right by the Bank, now it’s an antique shop and there is still a thrift store right by the antique shop. Also right across the Bank there was a pet supply shop, then it was a small foods market but then they closed it down. I think all those stores changed to different and better stores to make more money for the city of Post Falls, such as the new Burger King and the new Wal-mart by Cabela’s and in Hayden Lake. Because these stores opened, it has created better jobs for the city in Post Falls.
