CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice said he and his staff tested negative for the coronavirus after a staffer in the Capitol building tested positive Friday morning. The attorney general’s office later said the employee believed to have the virus tested negative on Friday evening.

Tales of global warming and Chicken Little

A report stated the amount of CO2 in our atmosphere as 0.0385 percent. I assumed this was a lie. A number this low had to be concocted by global warming deniers. However, the number looks to be valid. Most experts round it to 0.04 percent. This means that our atmosphere is four one-hundredths of one percent CO2. Put another way, 400 parts/million. Not much, is it?

Marriage is between a man and woman

HB 425 has been passed in the House and now in the Senate. The bill extends marriage benefits to same sex “marriages.” The Idaho Constitution states … “marriage is between a man and a woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized.”

HUNT: Good start on this wish list

It was pleasant this Ironman Sunday morning to discover a new column in the CDA Press. Timothy Hunt is just what we needed to replace the former guy who had some interesting thoughts but was constantly reinventing himself, which sort of made one wonder about the validity of the thoughts. Now if we could just get a consistent movie reviewer, life would be good. Yes, I know those are available online, but some of us still associate morning coffee with getting newsprint on our fingers, and it would seem that might be the sort of person newspapers would want to placate.

I would like to thank Jerry Rose and Jennifer Lyda for their reply letters. In my original letter to the editor, I mistakenly stated what I thought were some of the duties of a Notary Public. I stand corrected. Both of the letters pointed out obvious misconceptions on my part. There is no way a Notary could validate every document presented to them. I must have had a momentary lapse of logic.

National ID card would eliminate the problems

The solution to the illegal immigration problem is the establishment of a national identity card.  The primary draw to the United States for illegals is employment.  A substantial penalty for anyone employing a worker without a valid ID would eliminate the incentive for immigration.

Drunken driver became a drunken runner

After pursuing a man for several minutes - first in a car, then on foot - a Kalispell police officer finally caught and arrested him. He was charged with resisting arrest, eluding a police officer, drunken driving, driving without a valid license and speeding.
