One can admire Steve Thompson’s enthusiasm (Inter Lake letter to the editor, Sept. 24) in his futile effort to “address” climate change. Thompson thinks human emissions drive climate change. He thinks an outdated 150-year-old scientific idea is valid.

LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Parks Board is developing a countywide parks and trails plan and it’s looking to the community to help guide the development and maintenance of its parks and trails over the next several years. Do you want more and better trails? Lake or river access? How about playgrounds and playing fields? How should we fund parks and trails?

The North Fork is special to me, and to the folks I write about, and we have special concerns about how to best preserve the area and the things that make it special. Among those things are the fish and wildlife, the forest, the river, and, of course, the rural lifestyle. That means we often disagree on how to protect the North Fork.
