Nathalie Doris Mitchell (Lunden), 91

Nathalie Doris Mitchell (Lunden), 91, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away peacefully Feb. 12, 2016, at The Garden at Orchard Ridge in Coeur d’Alene from severe debility and breast cancer. She was born April 28, 1924, to Edward and Lila Lunden in Brandt, S.D.

Nathalie Doris Mitchell (Lunden), 91, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho passed away peacefully February 12, 2016, at The Garden at Orchard Ridge in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho from severe debility and breast cancer. She was born April 28, 1924 to Edward and Lila Lunden in Brandt, South Dakota.

Michael Dolphin, 66

Mike died Sept. 3, 2016, in the early morning hours. He had been aware that he had anthoropy t-cell lymphoma compounded with celiac disease since early April of this year. He chose to continue his life without medical intervention, so the last few months he spent working in his shop, flying to Louisville, Ky., to see his nephew, Shawn Dolphin, and meet his wife, Anabelia. While there, he helped his brother load up a U-Haul truck and they started their adventure driving back to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where his brother, Martin, now lives.

Rising rates signal change

A headline caught our attention last week. It caused alarm which led to its reading. "Mortgage Rates Make Biggest Jump of the Year" is bound to get the attention of anyone with an interest in the real estate market, especially those now shopping for homes.

Richard 'Dick' Moss, 65

Richard "Dick" Moss, 65, longtime resident of San Diego, Calif., went to be with the Lord on Aug. 18, 2014. He passed at the Hospice House of North Idaho.

Borah students visit Gizmo for invention workshop

COEUR d'ALENE - Borah Elementary School fourth-graders were intrigued, inspired and imaginative in Gizmo-Coeur d'Alene's workspace Friday, especially when Barbara and Marty Mueller brought out hydraulic robots made of Popsicle sticks and controlled by tubes and plastic syringes full of water.

Locals can recycle glass at nonprofit fundraiser

It’s been over 10 months since Flathead Valley residents have been able to recycle their glass locally. Changes in the global recycling market, coupled with the high cost of transporting materials, have rocked local programs and forced the last remaining glass recycler, New World Recycling, to close up shop last November.

Smudging made easy

"First wife Iris" has never been attacked by a tiger, and we have to consider that good luck may have come about because when our first son Shannon was a small boy, he made her a bracelet which he said was meant to keep tigers away.

First Thursday Gallery Nights takes place on July 2 at galleries across downtown Whitefish. Jest Gallery, 305 East Second Street in Whitefish, will hold a reception for East Glacier-based artist Roger Rink and his recent work, ìBig Sky.î The Walking Man Frame Shop & Gallery will host an opening reception for Montana artist Peter Moore and his exhibit ìThe North Fork & Beyond." Stumptown Art Studio will hold an opening reception for artist Shannon Webster's exhibition of paintings called ìObservations.î

Patriotic music to be performed in downtown Bigfork

Bigfork is known for it’s strong artistic community, whether it’s plays, paintings, sculptures or singing. On Friday a patriotic flair will be added to Bigfork’s repertoire of creative expression with live performances of “The Star Spangled Banner” three times a week and everyone is encouraged to join in with the singing.
