The closely-watched monthly update reaffirmed that the job market remains resilient, despite worries from businesses and consumers about the impact of tariffs on goods going to and coming from the U.S. and its most important trading partners.
Stellantis warns of $2.7 billion loss for 1st half of 2025 due to tariffs and some big charges
Stellantis reports a preliminary net loss of 2.3 billion euros ($2.68 billion) in the first half of the year. The automaker attributes the loss to U.S. tariffs and significant charges. On Monday, Stellantis revealed the impact of 300 million euros in tariffs and 3.3 billion euros in pretax charges, including costs related to emission standards and restructuring.

Interior Department Secretary Doug Burgum was among the leaders from several federal agencies who attended the meeting that runs through Tuesday. He has touted the many potential uses for public lands that include recreation, logging and oil and gas production, saying it could boost local economies. Several hundred protesters in downtown Santa Fe denounced efforts that might privatize federal public lands, chanting “not for sale” and carrying signs reading “This land belongs to you and me” and “keep our public land free for future generations.”
Sandpoint City Council approves proposal to shrink area of impact by 70%
The proposal to reduce the city’s area of impact originally appeared before Sandpoint’s planning and zoning commission in March. The body decided to advise city councilors to bring a new 3.4-square-mile area — down from the existing 12.3-square-mile zone — to Bonner County for final approval.
