Come for a visit and witness the learning

I urge anyone who hasn’t visited an elementary school in the Lake Pend Oreille School District to come witness student involvement and learning. If someone were to simply walk the halls of our schools on any given day, he or she would notice the inventiveness ever present in all our buildings. Our walls showcase student art projects, student writings, positive teacher messages and posters depicting character education.

Vote for candidates who support our state, national parks

Our family recently spent several days camping in Grand Teton National Forest. Each time I visit a state or national park I am struck by the variety of visitors who are there. All ages, sizes, shapes, nationalities, political and religious persuasions, hike, bike or paddle along, oohing and aaahing over the natural wonders.

Double the love and twice the cuddles

MOSES LAKE – Adopt double the cuteness, adopt this bonded pair. Rosco, male, and Dolly, female, are looking for a home that will take them in together. They love each other dearly and would be devastated if they were separated. Rosco is neutered and Dolly is spayed; both are fully vaccinated. They are both cuddle bugs and when you aren’t home, they will have each other to keep one another company. Rosco and Dolly were declawed before they came into Grant County Animal Outreach care. GCAO's policy is not to support declawing, but we are dedicated to ensuring these wonderful cats find a safe and happy indoor home. Could that be with you? If so, visit GrantCountyAnimalOutreach.org and fill out their application. If you can’t take in the pair but you would like to help a local shelter, visit the website and click “donate.”

A dapper dude

Sammi, a professional business pup, is ready to be hired for the very important job of being the bestest boy. He does not have thumbs, so he was unable to type up a resume. However, he is known for being a sweet boy — look at those honey-colored eyes and you’ll see. In this role, he said he hopes to excel at chasing toys, eating treats, taking naps and accepting pets. He is a 6-year-old terrier mix who is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. If he seems like the perfect “hire” for you, visit GrantCountyAnimalOutreach.org and fill out his application. He would do it for you, but again, no thumbs. If you can’t adopt the hardest worker, but you would still like to help a local shelter, visit the website and click “donate.”

Recent grad looking for a forever home

OTHELLO – Orchard recently graduated from the Ridge Dog training program. The Ridge Dogs program allows for inmates at the Coyote Ridge Correctional Facility in Connell to train dogs. The dogs are taught basic commands such as sit, stay, lie down, come when called, walk on a loose leash and heel on request. Many of the dogs will also have clicker training. Orchard is a loving girl, who loves a good nap and yap. She is a good companion for those who are active because she loves long runs and exciting adventures. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to go home with you. If Orchard seems like a perfect fit, visit AdamsCountyPetRescue.com and fill out an application. If you can’t adopt, right now, but you would like to help a local shelter, visit the website and click “donate.”

Cypress volunteers to be your new furry friend

MOSES LAKE – Cypress heard you need a new furry friend and is volunteering to fill that hole in your heart. The sweet girl is four months old and ready for someone to love her for the rest of her years. She is a Chihuahua mix but don’t let her small body trick you into thinking she doesn’t have a big personality. Cypress is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and ready to go home with you anytime – she does not have her driver’s license so you will have to assist her with coming home with you. If this sounds like your perfect match, visit GrantCountyAnimalOutreach.org. If you can’t take this cuddle bug home but still want to help a local shelter visit the website and click “donate.”

The Big Cheese looking for a heart to melt

MOSES LAKE – For some reason, I think I’m the big cheese, perhaps because Big Cheese is literally my name. The folks here at Grant County Animal Outreach know how to give a pup a name that builds him up. I’m a mix of this and that and the folks here at the shelter say I’m around 44 pounds at just over three years old. I’d love to meet you and see if we click and can hang out together for the long term. Feel free to provide cheesy treats. If this big lump of cheddar seems like your type, visit GrantCountyAnimalOutreach.org and fill out his application today. If you can’t adopt right now but would like to help a local shelter, visit the website and click “donate.”
