Storage veggies, early spring delights dazzle
Though it will be a while before we welcome the new spears of asparagus and the first, sweetest strawberries, we can obtain a few items from the fresh/organic sections of local grocery stores, and enjoy spring’s new produce in great recipes. Too, ‘tween season treasures that have thrived in storage make for great dishes. Enjoy!
Festival goodies easy to create, tote around
Today we offer a plethora of goodies to take to the Festival, or any picnic outing. A little work at home makes for a simple packing-up of great snacks in your cooler or hamper for on-site enjoyment.

18-year-old takes top Mack Days angler award
The 2017 Spring Mack Days Fishing Event ended with 18-year-old Danner Shima of Kalispell holding onto his lead in the Top 10 category. Shima turned in 1,652 lake trout this spring, with 75.89 fish average. This was the first year that Danner fished from his own boat, after working a job and saving his Mack Day winnings from previous tournaments. He is an angler we will be watching in the future, if you can stand it. Many competitors reported having to move locations after growing frustrated watching Shima pull in fish after fish. Danner started showing up in the Mack Days stats in 2011 with four entries in the Youth Category and has progressed through the years to become his current title of Top Angler. His expertise came from fishing with his grandfather Mike Shima, his dad Ryan, and brother Austin who are all very good anglers.
