No. 26616 INVITATION TO BID CROW DAM SPILLWAY MODIFICATION PROJECT AREA 3 SOLICITATION/SPECIFICATIONS CSKT/SOD 19-01 The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes desire to enter in to a Construction Agreement with a general construction contractor to demolish, remove and rebuild the upper sections of the existing Crow Dam reinforced concrete spillway. The Crow Dam Spillway Modification Project - Area 3 is located at Crow Dam approximately six miles southwest of the town of Ronan on the Flathead Indian Reservation, MT. The existing emergency spillway for Crow Dam will be replaced with a new spillway constructed in two separate construction phases. The overall replacement project includes the demolition of the existing spillway structure and appurtenances and the construction of a piano key weir spillway crest, chute, and flip bucket along the same general alignment as the existing spillway. Construction of the spillway will require demolition of the existing spillway, excavation to accommodate the wider spillway channel and construction of a new, reinforced concrete lined spillway. The first phase of construction (Area 2) was completed in July 2019 and consisted of replacement of the existing chute and stilling basin and replacing it with a new chute, flip bucket, and armored apron. The second phase (Area 3) consists of the replacement of the existing side-channel inlet structure and tunnel with a piano key weir spillway crest structure, spillway channel crossing beneath Crow Dam Road, and a pre-stressed concrete bridge placed over the spillway channel along Crow Dam Road. This Contract only includes demolition and reconstruction of the upper portion of the spillway heretofore referred to as Area 3. Area 2 has been constructed and is not part of this Contract. Plans, specifications, and bidding documents for this project may be obtained from: Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes, Safety of Dams Program, Attn: Greg Wilson, P.O. Box 278, Pablo, MT 59855, phone 406-676-2600, email: [email protected]. Plans, specifications and bidding documents may also be viewed and downloaded at the following web site: http://csktnrd.org/water-management/sod. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at the Natural Resources Department Office Foust Conference Room located at 301 Main Street, Polson, MT at 9:00 A.M. (local time) on November 21, 2019. Contractor sealed-bids must be submitted on the supplied bid forms and received at the address listed in the solicitation for bid opening no later than 2:00 P.M. (local time), December 5, 2019. Tribal Contractors who wish to receive Indian Preference must obtain certification by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Indian Preference Office as a legitimate Indian-owned business prior to the submission of bids. Proof of Indian Preference Certification must be included with your bid in the form of a copy of the Certificate issued by the Indian Preference Office. Be advised that evidence of your membership or affiliation with a Tribe does not constitute Indian Preference Certification. Contractors must be certified by the Indian Preference Office in order to claim Indian preference. It is the sole responsibility of the bidder to obtain and provide proof of Indian Preference certification from the Indian Preference Office. History
History for November 24th, 2016 100 Year The body of Joe Dunn, the man who died at Kingsgate last Friday morning while trying to enter a refrigerator car was buried in the Bonners Ferry cemetery Monday afternoon. Coroner Reich held an inquest Saturday evening and an autopsy was held by Dr. E.E. Fry. The coroner’s jury brought in a verdict to the effect that Dunn’s death had been caused by pneumonia. From all present indications the project of reclaiming the Kootenai Valley of Idaho and British Columbia, which includes some 80,000 acres of rich bottom lands on both sides of the Kootenai river for a distance of some 60 miles, will soon be taken up again. While skating Sunday on the lake below town Miss Janie Rebenstroff was severely bitten by a dog belonging to George Causton. Eastport – A runaway boy from Bonners Ferry, was picked up here by the immigration officers last week. He was promptly returned to his parents. The basket ball team of the Bonners Ferry high school is rapidly getting in shape for the opening games of the season which will be played on December 7th, 8th and 9th at Libby, Eureka and Kalispell, Mont., respectively. The line-up of the team which will make the Montana trip will be as follows: Forwards, Stewart, Bond, Collins; center, Norton; guards, Luse and Thomsen. 50 Years Tuesday, Nov. 21, marked the opening of the Naples-Peterson hill section of Highway 2 and 95, and the Naples overpass. The eight-mile stretch of highway has been two years in the building with the costs listed as follows: grading, drainage and base materials, $1,400,000; paving, $425,000; and overpass, $460,000. The overpass is 730 feet long and 28 feet wide. The Boundary County TV Translator association today said the weak signal received last week was due to an icing condition on the antennas at Black mountain. Bob Myers and Clem Mostek went to the site and removed a four-inch ice coat to restore the signal. The association also stated: “We ask our cooperation. This also goes for the two non-members (free loaders) who were complaining about their poor TV reception from our translators on Black mountain.” A small but interested group of “old timers”, met at the courthouse last Thursday evening to further discuss the formation of a Boundary County historical society. Mrs. Goldie Brewer acted as chairman of the meeting and in the enthusiastic discussions which took place the groundwork was laid for the formation of an historical organization for the local community. Seen and Heard… Neil Howarth, Al Flory and LeRoy White not being recognized as they did the can can….. An ice skating rink at the fairgrounds show area will be forth-coming with the arrival of cold weather. Jaycees will flood the arena soon to establish a base and submerge existing sawdust and chips, then will sprinkle the ice with the first good freeze in hopes of providing a safe, well lighted place for residents to enjoy the almost-forgotten sport.
