Miller’s Country Store reopens as planned
You’d never know walking into Miller’s Country Store on Monday that just a few days prior there was a vehicle inside the Sandpoint business. While things did not go as planned on Friday morning, they did on Monday morning. The store reopened on schedule Monday after closing Friday morning to repair damage caused when a car crashed through the front of the building.
Joann at Silver Lake Mall avoids closure list
The Silver Lake Mall store opened in 2013 and has been an anchor tenant, attracting a loyal clientele of crafters. Joann Fabrics had previously operated on Fourth Street next to Safeway in midtown Coeur d'Alene.

Jody "Jo" Ann Staley, resident of Athol, passed away Sept. 1, 2011, in Coeur d'Alene. She was born June 27, 1960, in Fairmont, W.Va., to James Howell and Gloria Davidson and later adopted by Lenerd Davidson.

My first visit to North Idaho was in 1986, the second 10 months later. Back home in Flagstaff, Ariz., friends asked about Idaho; I said it was civil, that people opened the doors for each other at the post office and smiled. Idahoans seemed to take life easier than in Arizona and things moved slower in Flagstaff than in Chicago, my hometown.
