Quietly walking up the pine needle-covered deer-trail, I pause, listen, then continue my trek. Reaching the top of the mountain, I pause, catch my breath and look. Lake Coeur d'Alene stretches southeast in my view. A valley of Western larch, ponderosa pines and granite is directly below me to the south and the north offers more mountains, no sun and the possibility of a sizable buck. I head north and, reaching the top of the next peak, settle my tired body just off the mountain ridge, nestled against a large fir stump. The view is beautiful.
CHaFE 150 welcomes veteran, novice bicyclists

And with this year’s new addition of the 1/2 CHaFE — at approximately 75 miles — the ride through Idaho and Montana is signing on some first-time riders, as well.
