Pups dumped on a frigid night
Kalispell Police took a call Monday night when nine puppies were abandoned in a box outside of Gateway West Cinema. The National Weather Service said the temperature when the puppies were abandoned was about 7 degrees. Temporary homes were found for all of the puppies, according to animal warden Mike Hall, but some of the shepherd-mix puppies will need permanent homes.

Busy shops, packed buses as Sao Paulo reopens amid pandemic
SAO PAULO (AP) — Retail shops reopened on Wednesday after a two-month pandemic shutdown in Brazil's biggest city, leading to crowded buses and subways from early in the day — and with many people ignoring social distancing rules. Sao Paulo Mayor Bruno Covas authorized the restart of commerce between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. as long as shops require customers to use masks and limit those allowed inside. Stores in malls, however, remain closed until Thursday.

The gold rush era for North Idaho occurred during the years spanning the last half of the 19th century and into the early 20th century. Nowhere in North Idaho was the lust for gold more manifest and the damage to nature it caused than along Prichard Creek and its tributaries between the “boom and bust” town of Murray and the now non-existent town of Eagle.
