I would like to speak on behalf of Idaho’s forest products business sector and thank elected officials who found the political courage to vote in favor of the governor’s fuel tax increase bill last week. Even though the bill was unpopular, and was ultimately defeated, these legislators had the courage and will to stand up and be counted.

How amusing it must be to observe our beloved country at this moment in history from a foreigner’s vantage point. Folks who have received untold millions of unrequited aid, and with it, an equal dose of bribery, coercion, leveraging and political manipulaton from elite factions of our government and shrewd business sectors.

It’s rare that I send a letter to the editor to express my opinion. The elections are upon us, and if you are like me, the thought of picking our future leaders is not easy and is often confusing. One leader that I am not confused about is Don “K” Kaltschmidt. In my opinion, Don will bring common sense conservatism to Montana. He has spent his career working hard in the private sector to earn success and create jobs.
