Judge candidates on property rights views
One issue that features prominently in the public debate leading up to the primary election for county offices is protection of private property rights. Several years ago, before I made my escape from New Jersey, that state passed the Highlands Act, which prohibited virtually all development within a huge swathe of the rural northwestern part of the state. A much-deserved thanks for Northland
A much-deserved thank you goes out to Northland Cable from Panhandle Special Needs. Their national contest for cities to nominate their “Hometown Hero” was a huge success, and as a volunteer for Panhandle Special Needs, I was proud to chosen as a nominee for Sandpoint.
Idaho's senators failed to summon the required courage
During last week’s impeachment vote acquitting President Trump of abusing the power of his office, only one Republican in the Senate had the courage to stand up to the president. Sen Mitt Romney of Utah (his party’s nominee for president in 2012) cast the lone GOP vote for conviction for what he called “an appalling abuse of public trust” while Idaho’s two senators — Sen. James Risch and Sen. Mike Crapo — blindly followed the Senate leadership. (Risch was reported as falling asleep during the hearings.)

LETTER: Dems bad for workers
I just can’t NOT respond to the unfortunately titled “Republicans not good for workers.” Mr. Shaughnessy tells us of the insanity of being fooled by Republican leadership and why we need to stop voting for “them.”
