Deputies investigate stabbing
Flathead County sheriff's deputies were searching for a stabbing suspect in the heavily treed and brushy area east of the Shopko parking lot at 8 p.m. Saturday. A short time earlier, a man reportedly emerged from that same area and headed for the sidewalk in front of the store, where he flagged down a woman and asked her to call for help. Evergreen Fire and Rescue arrived and began caring for the man's apparent stab wound to the upper left side of his chest. The Kalispell ambulance then arrived and continued the care as they transported him to the hospital. Three deputies searched the area on foot, combing through the area that is used frequently by transients. At one campsite they found a shirt, which they took into evidence. Investigation continues.
