A mystery was solved Friday
after a woman on Goodrich Road told the Flathead County Sheriff's Office that her cat came home, partially shaved and marked with an X on Thursday. A spokeswoman for the spay and neuter clinic said the cat was spayed a few weeks ago. The animals are tattooed after they are sterilized so future owners know the cats don't need the surgery.

It breaks my heart to think about our senior citizens who have to choose between groceries, medication or pet food because they live on a fixed income in an area where property taxes have grown so high. On June 1, Fish and Game Conservation Officers euthanized an adult grizzly bear near the town of Copeland in a joint effort with U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Brett Alan Lengstorf passed away Feb. 9, 2005. Brett was born June 26, 1962 to Walter and Barbara Lengstorf in Kalispell. He grew up in Whitefish and graduated from Whitefish High School. On Feb. 19, 1988 Brett married Melissa Estrada a wonderful blessing in his life. Brett was proceeded in death by his father Walter Lengstorf . He is survived by his mother Barbara Lengstorf . His wife, Melissa, and their three sons: Tyler, Trey and Tanner. His sister Yvonne Slaybaugh her husband Kendall and sons: Guy, Jerod and Dan. Brother Wally Lengstorf, wife Wendy and children: Jason, Kyle and Carly. Sister Cecelia Ohs, husband Kim and children: Zach and Miranda. Brother Eric Lengstorf, wife Lisa and sons Josh, Brian and Corey.
Without a doubt, the Bulldogs are off to another great year. Our teams look to be very strong and determined to bring home Western "A" conference titles and maybe even contend for state titles.

Once again our village of Bigfork is ‘dressed’ for the season. It was my pleasure to join with the 2012 version of the Bigfork Elves in the fun of putting up the Christmas greenery and lights. As many years as I have been involved with the Bigfork Elf Force, I am always impressed with the wonderful turnout of volunteer elves that come together to make our town ready for Christmas.

Kenneth R. McElmurry, 45, of Everett, Wash., died July 12, 2007 at The Golden Leaf Adult Family Home. He was born on Sept. 11, 1961 in Libby to Roy and Ruby (Stipek) McElmurry. Ken graduated from Libby High School. He then continued his education at the University of Montana, graduating in 1984.
