Fire forces trail closures

NORDMAN — The Idaho Panhandle and Colville national forests have issued temporary trail closures on the Hughes Fork Trail and Shedroof Divide Trail in Pend Oreille County, Wash., due to the North Fork Hughes Fire in the Salmo-Priest Wilderness.

Blue Ribbon event postponed

The Nurturing Center’s annual Blue Ribbon child abuse prevention event that had been planned for Tuesday afternoon at Kalispell’s Lawrence Park has been postponed, due to the death of the center’s executive director Cathy Brenneman. Brenneman had been battling cancer for the past five months. She died April 13 at the age of 59. Staff members made the decision to postpone as they grieve the loss of their friend. They apologize to the community for any inconvenience and will announce when a new date for the event is determined.
