Stillwater blanks 'Cats
The Columbia Falls boys soccer team lost its season opener to Stillwater Christian School 4-0 last Saturday, Aug. 27. Stillwater scored three goals in the first half and added an insurance goal in the second half for the victory.
Deferred meth sentence from 2008 revoked
A 23-year-old Columbia Falls man was sentenced to five years with the Montana Department of Corrections after his deferred sentence in 2009 for possessing methamphetamine with intent to sell was revoked.

The 64th Montana Legislature recently finished its third week of the session. There are 37 freshmen in the House this session. It has been a fast learning curve for them as the pace of bills being heard in committees and on the House floor has been steadily increasing.

Coram family left homeless after fire
Flathead Valley residents are rallying to help a Coram family of eight who lost all of their belongings in a Feb. 9 house fire on U.S. 2. An electrical malfunction is believed to have caused the fire, which destroyed the home.

Derek Robert Refsland was born on March 31, 1986, in Glenwood Springs, Colo., to Steve K. and Bobbie S. (Rice) Refsland; his death at age 21 occurred at Miramar Marine Barracks in San Diego County, Calif., on Feb. 27, 2008.
