Jeannie LaRae Kistler, 77, a longtime resident of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away May 19, 2019, at Kootenai Memorial Medical Center. She was born December 20, 1942, in Carlsbad, California, a daughter of James and Norma (Buck) Martin.

Community support critical to animal shelter

The Panhandle Animal Shelter dog walk was a fun event last Sunday  as we walked the dogs from the old shelter to the spacious new one on Kootenai Cutoff Road. Maybe you saw our long line of dog walkers? This community is so blessed to have the donation of the shelter building as well as the thrift shop, by the Wild Rose Foundation.

THREATS: Stand up to hatred

Hate is rearing an ugly head in our region and our town and making national news. On May 26, the AP posted an article “Hate makes a comeback in the Pacific Northwest,” which mentioned Kootenai County specifically in reference to the Post Falls extremist Brittany Pettibone, who seeks to bring her far right Austrian boyfriend to Idaho to live. The article also described nine far right hate groups operating in our area now.
